Those four concepts are the fuel on which GST’s engine feeds. I will now lay out a general explanation of the program which will allow you to begin using GST in your own life. This is where GST really starts to come together.

The fact is, smart training is bigger than just going through the motions. The more you think about the reasoning behind this program, the more you will realize how important it is.

I am a firm believer in training systematically by using guidelines to stay on track and prolong progress. I believe that in order to lengthen your progression timeline, you must do everything you can to avoid burn out. The closer you come to burnout, the quicker your progression timeline will come to an end. GST is smart training, plain and simple.

GST runs on a series of microcycles. Each microcycle consists of four workouts. Each workout focuses on one core lift, which is always a compound lift, never an isolation lift. I will never tell you to put the majority of your gym time into isolation movements.

That is simply not how it’s done when you have strength and size in mind.
